Being A Single Parent When You're Not

Anyone else feel like they are a single parent when they aren't 'single'? Chet works A LOT.. I'm not complaining, he does what he has to do in order to put food on the table and allow me to stay home. He is on 24/7 call so we don't really ever know what will happen when. For example, he came home from work last Tuesday and told me he would probably be leaving Wednesday to go offshore. Not even 10 minutes later his phone rings, it's his boss. They need him to get out to the dock ASAP to go offshore. Fine, whatever... He gets home late Thursday night, tells me there is a job going on a few hours away that he may have to go on Saturday. Okay, I can deal with that.... Gets a phone call Friday morning, they need him to go on that job ASAP (everything seems to be ASAP with these people). He didn't even get to stay home 24 hours! Now he is gone for who knows how long.

See I went off on a tangent. My point is, even though I am not single I often feel like a single parent. I have to be both Mom and Dad most of the time. I am left on my own to get all of the kids to their doctor appointments, playdates and other activities. Right now it's summer so there is not much going on, but this is year round. I think the worst part is trying to comfort the kids when they are crying for their daddy. They want to know when he will be home and I can't give them a definite answer.

10 Weeks

My baby is 10 weeks old today. It's amazing how the time flies, seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.

Bank Issues

My gosh my bank is stressing me out. I have had a fraud alert placed on my account 3 times in the past two months. While I am very thankful they have their eye out for me I think they should notify me when something like this happens. I shouldn't have to wait until I am on E and trying to put gas to realize my debit card doesn't work. I shouldn't have to have my card declined at the grocery store with a basket full of groceries and three small children.

Well after I got those three issues straightened out guess what I did. I lost my card :( I really think I threw it away on accident. We went to Wal-Greens to pick up my medicine. When you go through the drive-thru and pay with a debit card they put it in an envelope like you get at the bank and staple it to your medicine. Apparently when I got home I pulled off the prescription information sheet and took the medicine out of the bag. Then I threw away the receipt, bag and of course my debit card.

Hopefully the problem is fixed. I called the bank and they deactivated my card. They told me I had another card activated that had never been used. Last time I had a fraud alert they were supposed to have cancelled all cards except the one I was currently using. Not sure why they had more than one card issued to me anyways. Now I'm just waiting for my new card to come in. Until then I'll just use Chet's ;)

Look what I found in my fridge

"Couch Potatoes" as Adasyn called them. Chet (he decided he doesn't like being called Piggy) made these for the kids one evening. I didn't realize they were keeping them 'fresh' in my refrigerator! Not what I expected to see when I opened it the next morning LoL

Children's Museum

Today we brought the kids to the Children's Museum. I thought it was a little old for them, especially KK but they seemed to really enjoy it.

Weighing babies.

Going to the dentist.

Dress-up

Presidential bowling

Playing with the train table (KK's favorite)

and Newscasters

Overall we had a great time and I think it was a very successful outing as a family of 5 :)

A fellow mommy from my local MLM site offered to take some pictures of Camryn for me. She did an AWESOME job!! If you want to check them out you can go here. Thanks Sarah!!!

Absent...

Just thought I'd come give my excuse for not posting! LoL... I'm sick :( I got a bad infection in my tubal incision and have been taking antibiotics out the wa-zoo. They have me feeling very run down and I don't have the energy to do much at all. I hope to be back soon with lots of pictures!

Am I the only one?

Please tell me I'm not the only person with a significant other who does this:

Can you see what's in there? Yes, it's a crawfish sack... NO it's not crawfish!

How about now:

Yes, that is what Piggy decided to do last night. Here is his total haul for the night:

He says it was a slow night, still looks like a lot to me!

Sometimes I wish I ate more of the things that he hunted (think duck, squirrel, rabbit, FROGS, etc) I have eaten all of the previous things before. I think most people who live in South Louisiana have eaten them. Whether or not they were aware of what they were eating at the time is another story. For now I'll stick to fish, shrimp, and crabs. I eat deer, I wish he was into that.

We Survived the Fair!

We decided to brave the fair this weekend with 3 kids. The kids did awesome! The fair on the other hand was so-so. First they went up on parking, now it's $10!! They also went up on ticket prices (4 tickets for $5.00). Adi and KK had a blast. They rode the ponies, went to the petting zoo and watched the (free) circus. I use the term circus loosely. Camryn just slept the entire time!

Unplugged....

We are going to try having an unplugged weekend. I am hoping it will bring us closer as a family. I will update Monday and let you all know how it goes!

Blahh...

That's how I have been feeling lately. I think it's the baby blues. I had postpartum depression after I had my daughter. This time around I don't feel that 'down' but I'm just bummed. I hope once my hormones get back in whack things will get better. I am supposed to be happy and excited, I just had a baby! Instead, I feel blah, that's the only word I can think of to describe it.

I hope to get back to normal soon! Here's to praying things get better!!!

Pregnancy Update ~ 40 Weeks

Yep, I'm still pregnant. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and still absolutely nothing. The doctor did a NST and everything looked fine. They also did another ultrasound. Baby is still head down, fluid level is good and she weighs approximately 8lbs 4oz. I was not expecting to have a child that size! I go back Thursday morning. My doctor says he is not sure an induction will be successful because of how high up baby is. In the beginning I was totally against induction, now I am starting to consider it. I would at least like to try it before resorting to a c-section. It would suck to have a section for my last child!

Still here...

I made it through Adi's dance revue!! I'm still waiting for something, anything to happen with this baby! My due date is in 3 days so hopefully soon. I feel like there is so much I should be getting done but my brain is so frazzled I don't know where to start. Sorry this post is so short, I am uncomfortable sitting. Now that I think about it I am uncomfortable doing just about anything. I know it's all worth it in the end and things will happen in due time. Have a great weekend!

39 Weeks Down ~ 1 To Go *hopefully*

Almost to the end! I thought last night was it though. I started having contractions at 6:30pm. They were pretty consistent but not very strong, just strong enough to catch me off guard. This went on until 1:30am. At that point I fell asleep. I know that babies will come on THEIR schedule, no one elses but I'm really hoping I make it to Adi's dance revue. Piggy says she would be more excited about having a baby sister. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if I missed it.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday morning. The doctor said the baby is still REALLY high. He did an ultrasound to make sure the baby was head down. In his words, I'm pretty sure it is but I don't want any surprises. The baby IS head down. Its head is on my left hip bone and his behind is in my right ribs. Hopefully baby moves over just a little and 'falls' into my pelvis. I go back first thing Thursday morning to check and see if anything is happening.

Today is part 2 of dress rehearsal. I'm going to try and get the kids overnight bags packed and all of the daily chores done early this morning. That way, even if I don't go into labor in the next few days it will all be done.

Menu Plan 4/20 - 4/24

This week is rather simple. Adi has her first dance revue Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday are dress rehearsals.

Monday ~ leftovers

Tuesday ~ slow cooker white beans & rice

Wednesday ~ eat out after Adi's dance revue

Thursday ~ baked chicken

Friday ~ leftovers

I guess I took an unintentional blogging break. Piggy got home Easter Sunday in the late afternoon. Since then we have been finishing up the last minute 'to dos' before baby comes as well as enjoying our last few days as a family of 4.

Thursday KK started with a nasty cough and stuffy nose, he has since infected the entire house. Adi got over it pretty quickly. He is still suffering. I woke up with it yesterday and it seems it got to Piggy yesterday evening.

Hopefully we will all be better before baby comes! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning. I will be 39 weeks Tuesday, hoping for SOME progress but not too much. Adi's first dance revue is Wednesday night. Anytime after that would be great! :)

I plan on trying to post our weekly menu tomorrow morning. It will be rather simple since we have dress rehearsals Monday and Tuesday night then the revue Wednesday night. I hope everyone had a great weekend, and to those of you who live near me, don't go crazy with the kids cooped up in the house!!! (I don't know about your yard but ours is SOAKED!)

Works For Me ~ Making Lists

Lists work for me! I'm sure this has been blogged about thousands of times! I am a visual person so it helps me to see exactly what needs to be done. I also feel a sense of accomplishment when I get to scratch something off :)
Here's my list for today:
  • get all laundry done, including bedding (I've been a little lazy about washing clothes the past two days)
  • clear all clutter off desk
  • sweep and mop floors
  • clean bathrooms
  • switch out winter and spring clothes (not sure about this yet, the weather has been CRAZY)
  • fill Easter eggs for hunt
  • sterilize bottles
  • start packing for hospital
I just realized that seems like a lot of things to get done TODAY. Maybe I'm overly ambitious. OR maybe, just maybe I'm nesting??

37 Weeks

I thought I had set this to autopost yesterday afternoon but apparently I saved it as a draft instead.

Thirty seven weeks today! Still nothing happening though. I went to the doctor yesterday he said the baby is still high. There's a full moon later this week so maybe that will help bring her down? I think I'm A LOT bigger than I was last week, I'm not sure what the deal is!

Oh and just for laughs my son came in while I was taking my belly pic. He decided that I needed to take one of the baby in his tummy too.

For Piggy To See

BTW if you don't like being called Piggy tell me what to call you!

Adi & KK checking out the baby sheep at MawMaw's house.

Looking at the sheep again

The watermelon plant Adi came home from school with today.

Corn plants. I watered this afternoon and and the ground is cracked already!

Pea plants. You can tell the kids helped you plant. There are random plants popping up in the grass around the row.

Strawberries we picked today.

Your freakishly big yellow BABY chicks.

The kids wanted to take a picture while eating ice.
Blogger doesn't want me let me change the picture placement. ARGH!
